He owned and managed various Residential and Commercial projects in the "USA and Canada”. In Canada his real estate investments were in residential and commercial Projects. His main projects were in Edmonton- Alberta, Guelph, Kitchener, London, Brantford, Ottawa in Ontario, Prince George, Kamloops in BC etc. In the U.S.A, his office was in Denver, Colorado which controlled his investments in Denver, Omaha and Maryland .

Foundation of BMK Group in India

His loyalty and love towards his country inspired him to come back to India in 1983, he started his first residential project, "Surya Vihar" – a group housing colony consisting of 600 apartments in Gurgaon , later on he entered in the hospitality sector by launching his first mid -priced hotel under the brand name of Bright Star Inn” at Greater Kailash, New Delhi, presently known as “The BMK hotel".

A few years later, in 1997 he launched the first five-star deluxe hotel of Haryana “The Bristol” which is presently a landmark in Gurgaon, and in the year 2008 he opened another business hotel “Ramada Gurgaon” under brand collaboration with “Ramada hotels international”, which presently known as “The Acura BMK” Hotel. He further extended his business activities by entering into real estate developments through his different group companies which is now widely known as “The BMK Group”. Recently BMK Group launched a luxury residential project by the name of “Maple Leaf Tower” in Amritsar which is just 10 minutes drive from Golden Temple. Presently he is acting as advisor to “The BMK Group” which is being managed by his family.

Presently Mr. Balbir Singh Kakar is actively involved in philanthropic and social work for under privileged society irrespective of their religion, caste, creed and color. He is associated with following non -profit organization, trust, educational, and medical institutions for social welfare and upliftment of society.

  

Trustee in India of Loomba Foundation

The Loomba foundation, is a UN accredited global charity organization that helps poor widows and educate their children regardless of gender or religion. The organization is actively associated with different charitable institutions in more than 13 countries. Mrs Cherie Blair is the president, and Sir Richard Branson is the Patron-in-chief of the foundation. The foundation is working in UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and aims to provide relief to 46 million widows.

 

Chairman (International Affairs) World Punjabi Organization

World Punjab Organization (WPO) is an International body of Punjabis to bring about “Punjabi Renaissance”. It is a Non-Political body of Prominent Punjabi Industrialists, Businessmen, Sportsmen, Journalists, Artists and achievers in other fields from all over the Globe. It was established to Promote brotherhood and goodwill among Punjabis living in more than hundred countries of the world irrespective of caste, creed and religion. It was formally launched on 10th January 1998 by Shri I.K. Gujral, the then Prime Minister of India. WPO has chapters in Bangkok, Singapore, Pakistan, Dubai, Iran, Kuwait, Muscat, UK, London, New York, Toronto.

Chairman, Jallianwala Bagh Centenary Commemoration Committee(JBCCC)

The purpose of JBCCC is to raise awareness of the atrocities and massacre of thousands of innocent people, which took place in the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar on 13thApril, 1919. Although, UK House of Commons condemned the massacre, but the House of Lords celebrated it. JBCCC though Lord Raj Loomba CBE and Lord Desai, debated in the house of Lords on 19th February 2019 to ask the UK Government to offer an apology to India. JBCCC organized an exhibition “Punjab under siege “– the Jallianwala Bagh Centenary with the help of Manchester Museum that will be travelling to United Kingdom to be held in the cities Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow in April 2019 to pay tribute to innocent people who were so cruelly murdered and many more injured on the Vaisakhi day exactly 100 years ago. JBCCC has also decided to host a remembrance dinner for over 100 high profile guests in the Cholmondeley Room at the House of Lords in London on Saturday 13th April 2019. The committee comprises of Lord Raj Loomba CBE, Ambassador Navtej Sarna, Mr. Virender Sharma MP, Lord and Lady Desai.

The medical centre provides OPD, physiotherapy, eye operation, health check-up, and diagnostic centre which provide services at very low rate to all its patients. 

Patron- Nehru Bal Sangh Society 

Nehru Bal Sangh Society is a non-profit organization established to spark nationalism amongst the children across the country. Primarily working with young children at national and state level in 18 states, the Nehru Bal Sangh has been tirelessly working with the youth of the country to motivate and involve them in nation-building and bringing about a positive change in the society. 

Member in Management Committee- Delhi Golf Society 

Delhi Golf Society (DGS), was formed in 2003 with the mission to promote Golf in the State of Delhi. DGS is member of the Indian Golf Union, its aim is to together spread the virtues of Golf in Delhi and beyond. Delhi Golf Society host coaching camps for upcoming golfers and talented golfers to sharpen their skills enabling them to become tournament winners. DGS has over 425 members of high standing in golf and their own profession who are very supportive of promoting the objectives of DGS.
